You know you want to get a breast augmentation: so now what? During your initial consultation with our staff at West End Plastic Surgery, we will go over all of your surgical options to help you land on the right texture, size, shape, and type of implants. So, how do you know what options you have to choose from? Let’s take a closer look.
Texture
There are two textures of implants: smooth implants and textured implants. Smooth implants slide freely in the implant pocket. Textured implants, however, adhere to the implant surface and prevent the implant from shifting around. Both implants are available at our office.
Size
One of the biggest things that patients have to determine is what size of implants they want. During your initial consultation, we will discuss what size of implants will enhance your look while still matching your body’s overall frame so that you look balanced and proportionate.
Shape
There are two different shapes of implants: round and teardrop. Round implants have been around for years and are popular because they are symmetrical and sit higher on the chest.
Teardrop implants are newer to the market and are tapered at the top and fuller at the bottom which gives patients a more natural look.
Type
Here at our office, we offer patients three types of implants: saline, silicone, and gummy bear implants.
- Saline Implants: Saline implants are made of a saltwater water solution. One of the reasons why patients like saline implants are because they are made of a more natural solution and are harder in texture.
- Silicone Implants: Silicone implants have traditionally been the most popular types of implants because they have a more natural texture than saline.
- Gummy Bear Implants: These are the newest type of implants and are made of a different kind of silicone than traditional silicone implants. Gummy bear implants gained popularity because they look and feel more natural than other types of implants.
We don’t expect any of our breast augmentation patients to have any of these decisions made even before their initial consultation. From your initial consultation to your follow-up appointment, we will be there every step of the way and will help you make the best decision for your body.
